School and Community Groups
Groups of all ages are encouraged to schedule visits to the museum. Fourth and sixth grade classes most often visit to fulfill state standards relating to rocks and minerals, the rock cycle, fossils, plate tectonics, and other geological and environmental issues.
To set up a school group visit, please contact Dr. Andrew Heckert via email (heckertab@appstate.edu) or at (828) 262-7609. Typical vists are 30-45 minutes, with another 30 minutes available for the rock garden (weather permitting).
Teachers wishing to view the exhibits on their own are encouraged to visit at any time, including during the Answersphere hours.
